Biography

Po-Yu obtained his dual bachelor's degree in Biology and Public Health from Kaohsiung Medical University, followed by MSc by research training in zoology at National Taiwan University. He has then enrolled on a joint PhD program in Academia Sinica and National Taiwan University on genome and systems biology to investigate the gut microbiota interactions using a minimal microbiome consortium and profile the gut microbiota ecology of folivorous flying squirrels via multi-omics platforms (NGS and metabolomics).

After his PhD training in 2019, Po-Yu joined the clinical microbiota research group at the National Taiwan University College of Medicine as a bioinformatician/ R&D substitute military service. He was involved in various human disease-associated microbiota studies with physicians, such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus, sarcopenia, chronic kidney disease, and sepsis. During the last year of his national service, Po-Yu had academia visiting at the Royal Veterinary College, University of London in the UK and led a multi-omics integration study to explore biomarkers and evaluate the efficacy of a novel yeast-based oral anticoccidiosis vaccine.
